Brand Statement

Soft Structure
for Women’s Formalwear

LADIAQUA is a Beijing bespoke womenswear brand founded by designer Li Zihan. Through fabric, pattern, seams and selective support, we shape defined silhouettes around the wearer’s body and movement.

Founder and Chief Designer

Li Zihan

With nearly a decade of bespoke practice, Li Zihan developed the Zihan Design System. A graduate of the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, she trained under the Hong Kong master tailor Tse Chi Kwong, and has long dressed executives, founders and international clients. She is a member of the Fashion Art Committee of the China Fashion Association and of the China Textile Engineering Society.

Her work begins with the client’s role, occasion, body and aesthetic preferences. Each commission brings together design, pattern cutting, fabric, craftsmanship and long-term wardrobe planning. For Li Zihan, bespoke is about creating a personal expression that fits the wearer’s body, the occasion and how she wishes to feel.

Design Philosophy

LADIAQUA design philosophy - Avant-Garde

Avant-Garde

New ways to give softness structure.

Our exploration begins with a practical question: how can women’s formalwear hold a defined silhouette and still feel soft?

We test fabric, pattern, seam construction and selective support, refining their relationship through fittings.

Each construction choice responds to the material, the body and the garment’s purpose.

LADIAQUA design philosophy - Elegance

Elegance

A defined silhouette. Freedom to move.

Elegance brings a clear, assured outline together with softness and comfort.

Proportion, shaping and support are judged through how a woman stands, walks, sits and works.

The silhouette has presence, while the body retains room to move.

From Bespoke Practice to Soft Structure

Designed around the woman who wears it

This design language grew from years of bespoke practice. Women with different bodies often ask for the same balance: formalwear that defines the bust and waist, yet feels soft and comfortable enough to walk, sit and work in.

Through toile fittings, we study how cloth drapes and pulls, then adjust the pattern, seam placement and support where needed. Experiments with double-faced woven wool crepe explore how soft materials can hold a defined silhouette through shaped panels, seams and selective reinforcement.

Soft Structure is an evolving method. The fabric, the wearer and the garment’s purpose determine how much support is needed and where it belongs. Each series carries this exploration forward through different materials and forms.

How Soft Structure Takes Shape

Panels and seams define the silhouette. Support is placed where needed, leaving the body free to move.

Shaped panels and seams define the bust and waist, with local reinforcement where support is needed. This jacket has no lining, facings or full-panel fusible interlining, preserving the fabric’s soft handle.

Shaped panels and narrow double-faced seams define the bust and waist. Boning supports selected seams while the remaining joins stay soft. Placement responds to the body and the intended form.

A defined silhouette must also respond to everyday movement. Fittings examine the shoulder and waist as the wearer raises her arm and sits, guiding adjustments to the pattern and local support.
